Ontario Artist Rosalind Crothers - Urban Abstracts & Abstract Florals
I am influenced by my time divided between urban and coastal living. When I paint my spirit guides my brush to make colours dance, shapes ignite and emotions soar.
Urban abstracts capture the rhythm and vitality of metropolitan existence, whereas my abstract florals are inspired by gestural lines evoking movement and energy of the organic world.
Overall my work highlights the interconnectedness of all living things, emphasizing humanity’s intrinsic bond with the environment .
About Rosalind
My abstract works are my love letters to Gaia. I have always deeply observed my natural surroundings and been moved to express my feelings and connection to nature. From the sky above and everything in between down to the ground. The constantly changing sky, the beautiful gnarled trees, blooming flowers in gorgeous colours, the waters, sand and grass give me an abundance of inspiration and calm.
I keep a rainbow layout of acrylic paint, inks and pastels ready to go in my studio. I use my intuition to choose the first colour to cover my canvas and then the magic starts to happen. More colours chosen, layers upon layers applied with quick, bold marks. I always take a step away and decide to let the layer dry or keep working and so it goes until completion like a puzzle. This process is my way of showing gratitude to the wonders of the natural world.
